This is a poem of a girl’s broken relationship with her mother that is now impacting her relationships with others.
I thought that it was a beautifully sad story. I think that it is very laudable that the author bare her story so naked.
I really like the quotations. I think they add life to this poem which is what I am hungry for. It’s a very real story. Quotations give it a pulse.
I love the metaphor, “ I was her pride and joy, like the Mona Lisa to Da Vinci” and the reference to the “Achilles Heel” but it doesn’t flow into the remainder of her poem. I’d either like more of it; or none at all. I also think that the comparison of her to a boiled egg doesn’t even scratch the surface of a worthy description to her exterior. I want to read something that screams pain. A boiled egg doesn’t quite do it justice.
